Fake construction worker and accomplice break into South Philly home – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man disguised as a construction worker distracted a South Philadelphia resident Wednesday afternoon while his accomplice stole jewelry from their home, police reported.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of South Juniper Street.

According to police, a man knocked on the resident’s door claiming to be from a construction company, claiming he needed to check the rear deck on the orders of the building inspector.

The resident let the man into his home and accompanied him to the back patio, unaware that just minutes later his accomplice also entered the house, police said.

According to police, the second suspect went into the front bedroom on the second floor and stole various jewelry.

No threats or violence were used against the resident during the incident, police said. Both suspects left the home on foot and headed north along Juniper Street.

Police describe the suspect, who claimed to be a construction worker, as a man between the ages of 25 and 35, 5’10” to 6’1″ tall, with a large build and weighing between 220 and 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a black shirt over a white shirt, and blue jeans.

Police describe the other suspect as a man of medium build, between 1.73 and 1.85 m tall. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hat, a black jacket and blue jeans.
