Makati Sangguniang Panlungsod orders suspension of village chief

MANILA, Philippines – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Makati has passed a resolution ordering the suspension of Barangay Magallanes Chairman Jose Mari Alzona.

According to the resolution, two complainants filed complaints on separate dates alleging abuse of office by Alzona.

The two cases were subsequently consolidated and the hearing was held on February 21.

“After careful consideration of the consolidated recommendation of the Committee, the Sangguniang Panlungsod is of the firm opinion that there is sufficient evidence to punish respondent Alzona with a suspension of twelve (12) months and thereby adopts the above recommendation in its entirety,” the resolution states.

The resolution was adopted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on June 5.
