Six arrests, one wanted in connection with a shooting among teenagers

Half a dozen young people were arrested and another was on the run after the shooting that left people running for their lives in lakeside villages in northeastern Colombia.

The Richland County Sheriff says this type of violence is like a team sport for the young people involved, and he’s seen enough of it.

We also learn that the Memorial Day weekend shooting is linked to a fatal incident at the same location a year ago.

According to Sheriff Leon Lott, it all started about a year ago when someone’s jewelry was stolen. The sheriff called it a “necklace robbery.”

Sheriff Lott says several shootings are connected to the recent shooting in the lakeside villages and that people living there are still shaken by what happened that day.

Sheriff Lott would like to inform the community that more arrests are expected.

According to Lott, the young people involved are part of a group he calls “Group ABC” that has wreaked havoc throughout Richland County.

“The common denominator is that Team A has been involved in a lot of shootings. The weapons we have seized have been involved in a lot of shootings. The individuals involved are going back and forth, shooting from passing cars. This group is out of control,” said Sheriff Lott.

The six young people who investigators say were involved in the shooting will be charged as adults in this case.

Officers said they found over 80 cartridge cases at the crime scene.

According to Lott, the seized weapons can be linked to three shootings in Fairfield County and one in Richland County.

“They all had guns with them, and none of those guns were used in the pool shooting. This shows that they threw those guns away and gave them to someone else and already have other guns,” Lott said.

A prominent man seen on surveillance video firing wildly is now wanted. Officials are now searching for 22-year-old Joshua House.

Sheriff Lott described House as “dangerous” at a recent press conference.

“This is Mister Pink Shirt, this is the one who had the assault rifle and fired many, many shots, yes, he is dangerous,” said Lott

Members of the Villages at Lakeshore community are now joining together to form a neighborhood watch.

Chandra Cleveland, a local resident, tells WACHFOX News: Enough is enough.

“We appreciate what Richland County has done in arresting the six individuals, but we want to make sure the people in our neighborhood know we stand behind them. We want our quiet neighborhood back,” Cleveland said.

The Villages at Lakeshore, along with Richland County officials, are hosting a town hall meeting on June 20 to establish a neighborhood watch group.

According to the sheriff, more arrests are pending in this case.
