Gloucester police will not tolerate shooters at Orbeez Gun Park

🔫Teenagers and young adults shot people in a park in Gloucester Township

🔫Some were recorded for videos to be posted on social media

🔫Orbeez gel guns are legal in New Jersey as long as they don’t look like a “real” gun.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP – Police have identified five suspects who shot people and animals with Orbeez gel pellets in a park.

Township police said they had received “numerous complaints” about teenagers and young adults shooting the small, colorful, water-absorbing beads around Veterans Park.

In one case, juveniles fired shots from a moving vehicle. Police told 6 ABC Action News that in another incident, ponies offering rides in the park were shot at.

According to police, the suspects identified by the police filmed a video to post on social media. No specific challenge was mentioned in their post.

“The GTPD will also identify, arrest and charge suspects who have misused these toy guns to instill fear or panic among the residents of our Gloucester Township, New Jersey,” the department said on its Facebook page.

Legal and realistic looking

The shootings may be interpreted by some as a real threat, endangering both the shooter and the public, who may mistakenly believe an Orbeez gun to be a real firearm.

“It is possible that a person could mistakenly believe the toy gun to be a realistic threat, thereby endangering the safety of your children or others,” police said. “The GTPD will also identify, arrest and charge suspects who have misused these toy guns to spread fear or panic among the residents of our Gloucester Township, New Jersey.”

Orbeez guns are legal to use in New Jersey for all ages as long as they do not look like real firearms, as per the state’s toy gun guidelines.
