Two dead in shooting at car show in Accokeek

So far, no arrests have been made in this case.

ACCOKEEK, Maryland – Police in Prince George’s County are investigating a shooting in Accokeek that left two people dead and another injured.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were called to the 700 block of Berry Road just before midnight Thursday for a report of a shooting. When they arrived on scene, officers found two men had been shot. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man went to the hospital with a gunshot wound and is said to be in stable condition.

In the early hours of Friday morning, detectives were on site in the parking lot of the Manokeek Village Center to collect evidence and interview witnesses. So far, no arrests have been made.

Witness Tammala Swan said her brother, whom she identified only as Sheldon, was one of the men killed. According to her, the shooting occurred at a car show in the parking lot. She told WUSA9 that the car show is held weekly in that parking lot and described it as family-friendly. She said it was not like other car shows WUSA9 has covered in the past.

Other witnesses estimated that about 500 people had gathered there before the shots were fired.

She said Sheldon had just been to another car show over the weekend. She said her brother was already paralyzed from the waist down and believes he was trying to escape the violence when he was shot.

“He loved the world. He loved all people,” Swan said of her brother. “This senseless killing must stop.”

Swan is asking anyone who may know anything to contact police. Anyone with information should call Prince George’s County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
