Mount Vernon Police Respond to Shooting at First Avenue and Third Street

Mount Vernon police said officers responded to a shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon.

Officers initially responded to several calls reporting gunshots in the area.

According to detectives, police found two 9mm cartridge cases.

They then received a call from Mount Vernon Emergency Room regarding a gunshot victim.

The victim’s condition was stabilized at Mount Vernon Hospital and then transferred to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

It was not clear as of Thursday evening whether the gunshot victim was connected to the shooting.
