Police: One dead and two injured in traffic accident in Indiana County | Local news

INDIANA, Pennsylvania – A woman is dead and two other people, including a toddler, were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Armstrong Township Wednesday, Indiana State Police said.

The accident occurred at 11 a.m. on State Route 422 just west of the intersection of North Ridge Road and South Ridge Road.

A woman driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta sedan was pulling out of a driveway onto the road when the vehicle was struck by a 2004 Honda Civic sedan driven by a 26-year-old Shelocta woman, troopers said.

Indiana County Coroner Jerry J. Overman Jr. pronounced the driver of the Volkswagen dead at the scene of the accident. Her name was not released.

The driver of the Honda was flown to Allegheny General Hospital. Her infant daughter was secured in a rear-facing car seat in the back seat and flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, troopers said.

The investigation will continue until Troop A’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist (CARS) unit has completed the reconstruction.
