Franklin Borough police sergeant on duty involved in accident that killed 19-year-old

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office confirmed that an on-duty police sergeant in a marked patrol car was involved in the crash that killed a 19-year-old woman in Franklin Borough.

According to officials, Sergeant William Grissom of the Franklin Police Department was involved in the crash on Route 23 that killed Deanna D’Arco.

The accident occurred on May 27 at around 10:30 a.m.

D’Arco, from Sussex, was a passenger in a car. According to witnesses, this happened a few minutes after the parade in the city had ended. The car in which the 19-year-old was sitting was rammed from the side by the patrol car. The driver was treated and released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
