Russia launches combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv and other regions

On Wednesday morning, June 12, Russian forces launched another massive airstrike on Ukraine, firing dozens of drones and missiles from at least three strategic bombers, primarily targeting Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine.

The attack involved four X-101/X-555 cruise missiles fired from strategic aircraft in the Saratov region, an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea and an X-47M2 Kinzhal aerobatic missile from the Tambov region.

In addition, 24 Shahed-131/136 attack drones were deployed from Yeisk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

During the attack, the Ukrainian Air Force managed to intercept five of six missiles and 24 drones. Air defenses were activated in the regions of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia.

To repel the enemy’s air attack, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were used.

Serghii Popko, head of the military administration in Kyiv, reported that the capital had suffered a massive combined attack, but he noted that all air threats had been intercepted.

The air raid warning in Kiev lasted about two hours. No casualties or damage were reported in the city itself.

However, debris from the launched missiles and drones caused fires in the Kyiv region and damaged several buildings, including an industrial facility, a warehouse, a private house, a gas station and a garage.
