The 1017 Records founder called his protégé “such a great young lady” in a social media post confirming her death.

Gucci Mane has announced the death of his former artist Enchanting. She was 26 years old.

On Tuesday, June 11, the 44-year-old founder of 1017 Records (born Radric Delantic Davis) confirmed the death of his protégé (whose real name was Channing Nicole Larry) via social media.

“So sad to say rest in peace to such an amazing young lady, a true star, we will all miss you Chant @luvenchanting 😢 💔,” Gucci captioned a photo of her on his Instagram account.

False reports of her death began circulating on Monday, June 10. After her death was confirmed on Tuesday, condolences poured in on social media.

Before her death, Enchanting had signed a deal with his label 1017 Records in 2020, New York radio station Hot 97 reported. “She appeared on three compilation albums before leaving the label in 2023,” they added.

The rising star reportedly died after a hospital took him off life support.

In a statement to The Shade Room, a representative of her management team said the 26-year-old suffered from withdrawal symptoms and overdosed.

“She’s been coming to my house for the last four days to get clean. She’s been trying her best and I’ve done everything I can to help her, she’s been trying,” the spokesperson told the outlet.

According to her profile on 1017 Records, which is still active on the label’s website, Enchanting “began to become interested in music when she was about 18” and focused on her craft after graduating high school.

The rapper talked about having to find her style after thinking she sounded like “a little baby” at the beginning of her career.

“I had to be comfortable with my voice,” she told 1017’s website. “Staying in the studio and constantly recording helps me find the style I’m good at.”

She elaborated on her style, saying, “It’s like trap-n-blues.”

“Other people can relate to the things I say. I can help someone in any situation, they can listen to me and find peace,” the rapper continued.

In a 2021 interview, she explained that she was an “Army kid” who was born in Germany and called Fort Worth, Texas, her home after also living in Atlanta until fifth grade.

Her other accolades include the release of her song “He Can’t Reach” in HBO’s Rap shit The second season soundtrack has been released, iHeartRadio reported Tuesday, citing Issa Rae’s label Raedio.
