YouTube star Ben Potter, known as a comic storyteller, dies at 40 after accident

Several fans paid tribute to him on social media.

Popular YouTuber Ben Potter, also known online as Comicstorian, has died aged 40 following a “regrettable accident”, his wife Nathalie Potter confirmed. Comicstorian, who had more than three million subscribers on his YouTube channel, spent over a decade creating content on the platform, such as audio comics and discussing the worlds of Marvel and DC. A self-proclaimed comics nerd, he also hosted The Weekly Pull and Absolute Comics, two podcasts dedicated entirely to comics.

In a long post on X, his wife wrote: “Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband Ben Potter passed away in an unfortunate accident. To many of you, he was a comic book writer who told stories from a variety of media. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive people you could wish for.”

“His channel was one of his greatest achievements and while we all need our time to mourn his loss, I know he would not have wanted it to end this way. Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies. His love of engaging stories and well-written characters is what drew him to YouTube,” her post continued.

She also added that she plans to carry on his “legacy” by “continuing to tell great stories about great people and keeping the memory of our very own superhero alive.”
