The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department is handling traffic accidents on the weekend

Over the weekend, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department responded to three separate traffic accidents:

  1. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and Wayne County Ambulance personnel responded to a report of a traffic accident that occurred at 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning on US 45 near Lamard Street in Geff. A 2024 Toyota Highlander driven by 49-year-old Randall G. Rockett of Geff left the roadway, struck a culvert, overturned, slid into a ditch and struck a stop sign. Rockett reportedly fled the scene of the accident and was not found by officers or Wayne County Ambulance personnel. Rockett was charged with improper lane use, leaving the scene of an accident without permission, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
  2. Officers responded to an incident on County Road 1500 North in Bedford Township just after 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A 2003 Dodge Caravan, driven by 75-year-old Robin T. Jackson of Fairfield, left the road and collided with a Wayne White utility pole after Jackson reportedly fell asleep at the wheel. Jackson and a passenger, 63-year-old Myrtle I. Jackson of Fairfield, were uninjured.
  3. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 45 in Barnhill Township just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon. A 2002 Ford F-150 driven by 73-year-old Curtis J. Brown of Windsor was traveling northbound when it was struck by a 2011 Toyota Camry driven by 19-year-old Isaiah J. Watson of Johnston City. Watson admitted to possibly falling asleep at the wheel and striking Brown’s truck. No injuries were reported. Watson was charged with no proof of insurance and is scheduled to appear in Wayne County Court on June 27.
