New Hampshire fugitive wanted for child abuse arrested

A New Hampshire man wanted by police for possessing child sexual abuse images was arrested Friday in Plainfield, Connecticut, authorities said. Michael Betz, 50, of Canaan, New Hampshire, had a warrant out for his arrest on 10 counts related to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse images, police said. A New Hampshire man wanted by police on suspicion of sexually abusing children was arrested Friday in Plainfield, Connecticut, authorities said.

According to Plainfield police, an arrest warrant was issued for 50-year-old Michael Betz of Canaan, New Hampshire, on 10 counts related to possession and distribution of child sexual abuse images.

Authorities said they found Betz’s car in a hotel parking lot in Plainfield, Connecticut.

Plainfield police said they later arrested him and confiscated a handgun from the hotel room.

According to authorities, Betz was also accused of possession of weapons and evading justice.

Betz is currently being held at the Plainfield Police Department. It is unclear when he will be extradited to New Hampshire.
