Police in Central KY are investigating two shootings that left one man dead, authorities say

Danville police are investigating two separate overnight shootings that left one person dead Sunday morning.

Authorities said the first call came in at 2:51 a.m., when dispatch received a call at a private club in the 700 block of Dillehay Street that had been hung up on. When officers arrived, they found shots had been fired, but no victim was found.

Thirty minutes later, units responded to a residence on Mason Avenue, where police said a 37-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

Police did not identify the victim, but determined it was the victim who was shot in his car in the Dillehay Street parking lot. The shooting remains under investigation.

At 3:47 a.m., Danville Police responded to a shooting call in the 300 block of North Fifth Street. Police arrived to find a pickup truck that had crashed into the yard of a residence.

A 43-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds was in the driver’s seat, police said. Boyle County EMS and Danville Fire Departments rendered immediate aid to the victim and took him to Ephraim McDowell.

The victim died around 5:30 a.m. His identity is being kept secret until family is notified.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the victim was walking on North Fifth Street when he was caught in a volley of gunfire from suspects standing on the west side of the street. The man attempted to back away before crashing.
