The actor from “Die Hard 2” was 86

Tom Bower, known for his roles in The Waltons And Die Hard 2has died. He was 86 years old.

The actor died in his sleep at his home in Los Angeles on May 30, his brother Robert Bower confirmed to The Hollywood ReporterHis manager Marsha McManus confirmed the news to PEOPLE, saying, “He was extraordinary in every way.”

Bower was born Ralph Thomas Bower in Denver, Colorado. He took his first steps in Hollywood by studying at John Cassavetes’ Shadows Workshop. His first work in front of the camera was the director’s first film, Shadowwhich was filmed in 1957.

The thriller from 1976 Two-minute warning followed, and he has appeared in nearly 200 films. Bower’s notable co-stars include Edward James Olmos in 1982’s The Last Man. In Die Hard 2 Alongside Bruce Willis, Bower played the airport janitor Marvin, who helps John McClane in the fight against terrorists.

On the small screen, Bower appeared regularly as a guest star, from Just call – Detective Rockford in the 1970s until recently it’s always sunny in Philadelphia And Happy HankHis biggest television role was that of Dr. Curtis Willard in The Waltonsin which he appeared in 26 episodes from 1975 to 1978.

According to IMDb, the upcoming Hurricanea drama about Anna Nicole Smith, is Bowers’ final film appearance. He plays a dentist alongside stars Sylvia Hoeks and Holly Hunter.

Bower leaves behind his children Viveca and Rob, four grandchildren, his brother Robert and his sister Shirley. In a biography written by Bower himself on IMDB, his wife Ursula, who died in 2023, is described as his “true love”.
