Nina Dobrev says after her recent bicycle accident: “Operation was a success”

Nina Dobrev gives a positive update on her slow recovery from her horrific bike accident in May.

“The surgery was a success,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Thank you to everyone who sent me kind messages, thoughts, prayers and good vibes. I felt the support and positive energy. This means more to me than you will ever know.”

Her words of thanks were accompanied by two post-surgery photos of Dobrev still lying in the hospital following treatment. In one of the images, she is surrounded by equipment but still smiling as she gives the camera a thumbs up.

The update was met with enthusiasm by fans and fellow celebs alike, including Dobrev’s boyfriend, Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. “WE ALL LOVE YOU,” he commented.

Before he announced the good news, the Vampire Diaries Star spoke openly about her fears ahead of the surgery. In a selfie shared on Instagram Stories, the actress was pictured in her hospital gown with teary eyes, a frown and a thumbs down.

“Is anyone else afraid of surgery?” she captioned the photo. “I’m such a baby when it comes to needles, blood, or any kind of procedure.”

The second photo also shows Dobrev in her hospital bed, covered with blankets, with only her injured leg peeking out from between the sheets. “I had to take one last photo of my leg – flawless – before it all scarred over,” the caption read.

The final slide was a video of Dobrev writing “Yes” on her injured leg with a marker.

“Fun fact: They make you draw on the limb they’re operating on to confirm it’s the right limb,” she explained. “(Because I guess there have been cases in the past where some surgeons have accidentally operated on the wrong limb.) YUCK!!!”

Dobrev last updated her followers on June 2, sharing a glimpse into her post-injury life, which included laying in bed with her dogs, walking to the doctor’s office on crutches, and laughing as White danced around in a sweatshirt printed on one of her TV diagnosis Characters, Elena Gilbert. Her leg was in a splint the whole time.

“Life’s been looking a little different lately,” she wrote in the caption. “I’m swapping the ‘selfie’ for the ‘leg shot.’ Get ready for leg shots because that’s all I have in my camera roll right now.”

In her original post on May 20, the actress was seen in a much worse condition, wearing a neck brace that matched her knee brace.
