Swiss NGO: Consultant arrested in Russia – efforts to secure his release

A Geneva-based NGO said on Thursday that a consultant had been arrested in Russia after authorities in Moscow reported that a Frenchman had been detained for violating the “foreign agent” law.

“We are aware that Laurent Vinatier, an adviser to the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), has been arrested in Russia. We are working to find out more details about the circumstances and to secure Laurent’s release,” a spokesperson for the conflict mediation body said in a statement emailed to AFP.
