Motorcyclist killed in ‘targeted shooting’ in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – A man was shot and killed while riding a motorcycle in Birmingham Wednesday afternoon, according to BPD Officer Truman Fitzgerald.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired near the intersection of 1st Avenue South and Center Street.

When police arrived on the scene, they found an unconscious adult man on a motorcycle who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.

When Birmingham Fire Department arrived on scene, the man, whose identity has not yet been established, was pronounced dead.

Police believe the victim was riding his cruiser motorcycle near the intersection when an unknown suspect shot him and then fled the scene.

“We are currently investigating this incident as a targeted shooting,” Fitzgerald said.

There is currently no one in custody.
