Police search for suspect who jumped off I-55 after chase

MANCHAC, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police and the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office are searching for a suspect who jumped off the I-55 bridge near Manchac.

According to police, the chase began when the driver refused to stop for a traffic violation.

The driver eventually crashed on I-55, jumped off the bridge into the water and made it back to shore, then fled on foot.

The incident is still under investigation. The suspect is being searched for in the area below.
