Man wanted for alleged rape of woman at store on Northern Boulevard in Flushing last week: NYPD – QNS

Police from the 109th Precinct in Flushing are searching for a suspected rapist who attacked a woman at knifepoint in a Murray Hill commercial building on Thursday evening, May 30.

The suspect was walking with another man on Northern Boulevard near 162nd Street at 10 p.m. when he split from him and entered one of the many stores along the shopping strip. Once inside, the suspect pulled out a knife, threatened a 37-year-old woman with the blade and then sexually assaulted her, police said.

The attacker then stole an unknown amount of cash and valuables, then left the store and ran off in an unknown direction, according to the NYPD. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and took the victim to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect walking down Northern Boulevard and described him as having light skin. He was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, tan pants, white sneakers and a black face mask. He also had a black fanny pack slung over his left shoulder.

A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information leading to his arrest.

As of June 2, the 109th Precinct has reported 10 rapes so far in 2024, 5 fewer than the 15 reported at the same time last year, a 33.3% decrease, according to the latest CompStat report. Robberies in the precinct have increased slightly, according to CompStat, with 152 cases reported so far this year, 4 more than the 148 reported at the same time in 2023, a 2.7% increase.
