HPD is searching for a driver accused of hitting another driver and then threatening him with a gun until the victim asked to be left alone.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Dashcam video shows the frightening moments when a driver blocked another motorist in rush hour traffic and then threatened him with a gun on the road in anger.

The 66-year-old victim shared the video shown ONLY ON ABC13as Houston police searched for the suspect.

He said the incident occurred on Friday, March 3, around 5:30 p.m. on the connecting ramp between northbound SH-288 and westbound I-610. He called it unprovoked.

“Nothing at all. This is a random act,” said the victim, who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons.

In fact, his video showed nothing unusual in the moments before a black BMW struck his passenger side, causing damage and blocking him. Then the violence escalated.

“The driver immediately jumps out with a large caliber pistol, points it at me and says something. He came to the driver’s side, pointed at me and threatened my life,” the victim said.

The victim begged the shooter to leave and even apologized. It worked. The video shows the man walking back to his car, but not before raising his gun again. The victim then called the police.

Now he hopes the dashcam he protects in the event of an accident will help find the man who put him in danger.

“I hope he gets arrested,” he said. “He should never be in a position to put another person in that situation again.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Houston police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
