Elderly cyclist killed in collision in Twin Falls County

An elderly man was killed while cycling south of Twin Falls on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred Sunday evening at 5:14 p.m. at the intersection of N 3400 E and E 3400 N in Twin Falls County.

Fatal accident: Bicycle-car crash on Sunday in Twin Falls County

The Idaho State Police have announced that they are investigating the accident. The report states:

A 76-year-old man from Kimberly was riding his bicycle southbound on N 3400 E when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a 2000 Hyundai Accent traveling westbound on E 3400 N. The Hyundai was driven by a 37-year-old man from Oakley who had a 24-year-old male passenger from Guatemala.

The cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but his death was pronounced at the scene.

Both men in the Hyundai were wearing seat belts and were not transported due to their injuries or medical necessity.

At the intersection of N 3400 E and E 3400 N, stop signs are posted on the north and south sides of the intersection – eastbound and westbound traffic is not required to stop.
