LCSO: 83-year-old Lawrence County man killed after dog attack

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Alabama (WHNT) – A Town Creek man was killed in a dog attack, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said officers responded to a 911 call about a dog attack at a home in the 200 block of County Road 264 in Town Creek around 3:30 p.m. on June 2.

When officers arrived, they found 83-year-old Willard Norton on his doorstep. He was receiving medical attention but was unresponsive.

Norton was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood has ordered an autopsy by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.

According to LCSO, the two dogs were taken to the Lawrence County Animal Shelter by animal control.

The investigation is ongoing and the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office will determine charges against the dog owners.
