Bekasi police investigate suspected ritual murder of 9-year-old girl

Bekasi. The Criminal Investigation Department of the Bekasi City Police again visited the residence of DS in Ciketing Udik Village, Bantargebang District, Bekasi City on Sunday after the body of a 9-year-old girl named GH was discovered in a sack.

The aim of the police visit was to determine whether there were other victims in DS’s apartment besides GH.

“Based on our observations, there is one spot where the cement appears to be relatively new. However, after officers dug one meter deep, they found no other victims at that spot,” said Muhammad Firdaus, head of the criminal investigation department of the Bekasi City Police.

The police have not yet revealed the perpetrator’s motive, but local residents suspect that the murder could be related to a ritual sacrifice.

A local resident and witness, Sarminah, said DS resisted arrest and even tried to stab police with a knife.

Police found several items in DS’s house, including dolls, a pickaxe and a crowbar. “There are many photos of children in a jar, like some kind of ritual sacrifice,” Sarminah added.

The victim, GH, was initially reported missing on Friday. Suspicion fell on the house where DS lived. When searching DS’s house, the police found a freshly dug hole.

The police then accompanied the residents, who were suspicious, to DS’s residence on Sunday. The perpetrator’s house was thoroughly searched and GH’s body was discovered in a sack in a hole next to the water pump shaft.

Firdaus explained that the police arrested DS and rescued the victim from a hole about 2.5 meters deep.

“Right behind the house, in a pit about 2.5 meters deep, exactly in the hole where the water pumping machine is located. It was found wrapped in a 50 kilogram sack,” he clarified.

According to Ahmad, a local resident, DS was known to be a reclusive person. Although he had lived in the area for the past four years, DS had little contact with his neighbors.

“He lived alone every day. He is a withdrawn person. We do not know his profession. Some people came here, apparently for medical treatment,” said Ahmad.
