Man arrested for car theft and kidnapping in North Fair Oaks

San Mateo County Sheriff’s officials arrested a 27-year-old man after he allegedly stole an occupied vehicle in North Fair Oaks around 6 p.m. Saturday night.

The man allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle but fled and then got into a second vehicle that was occupied, according to a department news release. He got into the passenger seat and forced the driver to make a U-turn at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Pacific Avenue before jumping out of the car and fleeing.

Sheriff’s officers combed the area and quickly located the man at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Middlefield Road. He was arrested and booked into Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of auto theft, kidnapping and parole violation.

The sheriff’s office said no weapons were used in the suspected car theft and no one was injured.
