2 people arrested, fled the scene: driving license revoked, drugs

COLUMBUS, Indiana – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people for drug possession and driving without a license after they fled the scene Thursday.

Sarah Caffee, 32, of Columbus, was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail and faces the following charges:


  • Conscious resistance to prosecution
  • Resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (a level 6 felony)
  • Possession of utensils
  • Driving despite a driving ban
  • Unlawful possession of a syringe (level 6 felony)
  • Possession of a narcotic drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Unlawful possession or use of a prescription drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of cocaine (a level 6 felony)

Donovan Martin, 27, a resident of Columbus, was also booked into the Bartholomew County Jail and faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a narcotic drug (Level 6 felony)
  • Possession of utensils
  • Knowingly or intentionally driving a motor vehicle without ever having a driving licence

According to a BSCO press release, an officer recognized the driver and the deputy already knew that her license was revoked, so he initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.

The vehicle did not stop and fled for several blocks before stopping. The two occupants then fled on foot.

Caffee was found nearby on Newton Street and arrested without incident. Martin was also found nearby and arrested shortly afterward, the police report said.

Officers said they searched the vehicle and found both narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The police report adds that drugs and drug paraphernalia were also found during the foot chase that Martin ditched.

According to Caffee, she did not stop the vehicle because Martin threatened her with a gun and told her to keep driving. However, the police report states that no firearms were found in the vehicle or in the area of ​​the foot pursuit.

Caffee remains in the custody of the Sheriff’s Office on $10,000 bail and Martin remains in 72-hour custody.
