The New Jersey American Water employee who died in an industrial accident was a family man

A utility worker who died in a traffic accident on the White Horse Pike was a married father of three and a war veteran, according to a fundraiser organized by his union.

Kyle Sease, 26, “will be terribly missed by all who knew him,” says a GoFundMe appeal to support his family.

Sease leaves behind his wife Brittanie and children aged 7, 5 and 21 months, according to the appeal from Water Workers Local 99.

The union represents employees of New Jersey American Water Co. in the utility’s southern operations.

Sease, a utility mechanic, died when a motorist drove into a cordoned-off construction site in the 500 block of White Horse Pike shortly before 10 a.m. on May 29.

According to the Camden County District Attorney’s Office, the driver struck four New Jersey American workers in a northbound lane of the Pike in Magnolia and then rammed two vehicles outside the work zone.

Sease, a utility mechanic, died at the scene of the accident, which was marked by a blue ribbon and flowers at the base of a power pole after the accident.

Sease was a graduate of Sterling High School in Stratford, where he participated in the ROTC program.

He joined the Army in 2015 and started working for New Jersey American in 2018.

“Kyle’s big smile and infectious laugh will always be remembered,” it says. “He was very close to his parents and siblings and devoted to his wife and three children.”

An obituary states that Sease was “an avid Philadelphia sports fan and extremely passionate when it came to the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.”

He also enjoyed grilling, spending time with his family at the beach, and doing home improvement projects.

“He was very proud of all his achievements,” the obituary states.

Another utility worker was taken to hospital in critical condition, the others suffered minor injuries, the prosecutor’s office said.

The driver who hit the workers was just a woman.

She herself suffered minor injuries, as did the drivers of the other vehicles that were hit by the woman’s car, the public prosecutor’s office said.
