CPD supports Matteson police in SWAT operation

CHICAGO – Chicago police are assisting Matteson police after a heavy police presence was reported on Chicago’s South Side Friday morning.

A heavy police presence monitored 9th Street and Lafayette and parts of Dan Ryan were closed due to an incident Thursday evening that continued into Friday morning.

SWAT teams initially deployed overnight to the 9600 block of South Perry Avenue in the Longwood Manor neighborhood.

WGN is actively monitoring the incident and will update as new information becomes available.
