Evil father found guilty of raping his own 10-year-old daughter

A father in Queensland has been found guilty of raping his own 10-year-old daughter.

The North Burnett man performed oral sex on the child and raped her while lying behind her bed, the Townsville District Court heard.

Prosecutor Shannon Sutherland told the jury that “overwhelming” DNA evidence showed “possible” traces of the man’s saliva in the girl’s underwear, the Townsville Bulletin reported.

The court was also told that the victim’s sister “steadfastly” insisted she saw the sexual abuse through cracks in the bedroom wall.

The girl’s mother – the man’s now ex-wife – testified in court that she saw the man lying behind the child in her bed.

Defense attorney Kelly Mython claimed the victim and her sisters made up the allegations and said there had been an “evolution” in the girls’ statements during police interviews.

The defense had previously claimed during the three-day trial that the victim had only claimed that her father had penetrated her after being told so by her sisters.

Ms Mython also told the jury that her sister’s testimony was not credible because the lights were off at the time she allegedly saw the rape.

The jury deliberated within an hour and found the father guilty of rape and indecent treatment of a child under the age of twelve in a direct line.

The man, whose identity cannot be established, was released on bail ahead of sentencing due to complex health problems.

The case will be heard again in court on June 6.
