Woman from Kasaragod repeatedly raped in Mangaluru hospital, fitness trainer arrested

Kasaragod: In a shocking incident, a woman from Kasaragod’ Kanhangad was repeatedly raped while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru. Police arrested Sujith from Kanhangnad, a fitness instructor, after receiving a complaint. He is facing charges including rape and criminal intimidation.

Sujith, an acquaintance of the woman, had accompanied her to the hospital. According to the survivor, on March 18, Sujith raped her in the hospital where she was being treated for a fistula. After taking nude pictures of her on his mobile phone, the accused continued to blackmail her. In April, the accused forced the woman to accompany him to a hotel in Mangalru and sexually abused her for four days. It is learnt that the accused again raped the woman when she was admitted to the hospital in May after suffering from food poisoning. Sujith had threatened the woman that he would kill her if she dared to reveal the matter to anyone.

The panicked woman had attempted suicide a few days ago. Her family then learned of her ordeal and reported it to the police on May 15.
