Street closures continue in downtown Houston as cleanup work continues after devastating storm

HOUSTON – Nearly two weeks after a devastating storm caused damage across the Houston area, street closures continue in the downtown area.

The Downtown Houston Management District shared the latest updates on street closures, saying they continue in areas where stabilization work is underway.

“The public is strongly cautioned to avoid closed streets and fenced sidewalks for safety reasons,” the management district said.

METRO Park & ​​Ride Bus service has resumed with some detours around closed streets. Before taking METRO Park & ​​Ride, please check your route first as some stops will not be served due to road closures.

Current street closures are as follows:

  • Smith from Clay to Pease

  • Andrews from Smith to Shaw

  • Shaw to Ruthven

  • Milam Bell in Smith

  • Louisiana from Pease to Clay and from Polk to McKinney

  • Dallas from Smith to Milam

  • Lamar from Milam to Smith

  • McKinney from Smith to Milam

  • Milam from the Capitol to Rusk

  • Lamar’s Travis in McKinney is partially closed

  • Travis from Franklin to Commerce
