SLED is investigating Aiken Mayor Teddy Milner | Aiken area public safety and court news

Aiken Mayor Teddy Milner is under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

On Feb. 29, Charles Barranco, director of the Aiken Department of Public Safety, asked SLED to investigate allegations that Milner preyed on a vulnerable adult, SLED public information officer Renée Wunderlich said Tuesday.

The details of the allegations against Milner are not known.

Milner referred questions to Chris Austin, a local attorney.

Milner, Aiken’s first female mayor, was sworn into office on November 27, 2023.

“I’m sure our best days are ahead of us, so let’s get to work,” Milner said after his swearing-in.

Milner, then 76, faced no opponent in the election on November 7th.

However, in a runoff election on August 22, 2023 to determine the Republican mayoral candidate, she defeated incumbent Rick Osbon by 14 votes.
