The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following public safety alert

The agency posted the following on its Facebook page:

At this time, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to please stay away from the area of ​​Happy Jack Road Hwy 210 from Forest Service Road 712 to Forest Service Road 106. Due to the active situation, there is a heavy police presence affecting the safety of the public. Please know that law enforcement is doing everything in their power to keep our community safe. Use alternative routes when traveling.

At 3:53 p.m., the sheriff’s office updated the warning and said it was still in effect. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

On April 6 and 7, 2024, fierce winds of more than 90 miles per hour blew through southeastern Wyoming, causing chaos in Cheyenne and on the interstate. Everything from fences to semi-trucks were overturned in the storm. Check out the damage shared by residents below.
