Footage from a court hearing in Michigan went viral after defendant Corey Harris, whose license was suspended, appeared to participate in the Zoom call while driving the vehicle.

In the video, Ann Arbor District Judge Cedric Simpson is seen reacting in disbelief as Harris dials in. His seatbelt is visible across his torso and his car is clearly in motion.

“Mr. Harris, are you driving?” Simpson asked the defendant.

“Actually, I’m driving to my doctor’s office,” Harris replied. “So just give me a second… I’m parking.”

Footage of the Zoom call shows the legal teams in the courtroom standing in shock while people at the back of the courtroom do their best to stifle their laughter.

The judge then asked, astonished and confused, if Harris was sitting still, to which he replied, “Just give me a second.”

Your first offense for driving with a suspended license in Michigan can result in a $500 fine and up to 93 days in jail.

A second offense is punishable by one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

To mitigate Harris’ inevitable subpoena, his public defender requested an adjournment for “possibly up to four weeks, if the court would permit.”

But Simpson said in astonishment: “Okay, maybe I don’t understand something. This is a case of driving without a license, and he was just Driveand he didn’t have a license.’

“That’s correct, Your Honor,” the public defender admitted defeatedly.

“I don’t even know why he would do that,” the judge said.

“The defendant’s bail is revoked in this matter,” he said. “The defendant is required to report to the Washtenaw County Jail by 6 p.m. today.”

“Oh my God,” Harris replied, shocked that they were so quick to judge without hearing his side of the argument.
