‘Bad breath rapist’ Tuen Lee arrested almost 17 years after his conviction

On Tuesday, a man was arrested who authorities believe is the “bad breath rapist” who was convicted of sexually assaulting a co-worker in Massachusetts nearly 17 years ago.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, Tuen Lee was taken into custody in California.

He is accused of breaking into a co-worker’s home in Quincy, Massachusetts, on Feb. 2, 2005, and sexually assaulting her. Lee has been on the run since his conviction for the assault in 2007, according to a Norfolk County District Court filing.

According to authorities, he lived for at least 15 years with a woman in California who knew nothing of his criminal past.

“Bad breath rapist” found guilty in 2007

Police arrested Lee shortly after the attack in 2005, saying “he was identified by his DNA and his terrible breath,” hence the nickname “The Bad Breath Rapist.”

Authorities said the case went to Norfolk Superior Court and after two days of deliberations, the jury found Lee guilty on all counts. However, he had already left the state, police said.
