Shreve man killed in car crash Wednesday morning

WOOSTER TOWNSHIP – A Shreve man was killed in a car crash early Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wooster Post.

David E. Ellis died at the scene of the accident, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 4:57 a.m. when the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol was notified of a single-vehicle crash on State Route 226 south of Township Road 76 (Valley Road).

A white 2014 Volkswagen Jetta traveling north on SR 226 left the left side of the road and struck a culvert and railing before overturning and landing in a creek bed at the bottom of an embankment.

Ellis was the driver of the Jetta. Police reported that he was wearing a seatbelt in the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs are unlikely to have played a role in this accident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, Wooster Township.
