Santa Rosa police seize weapons stash during house search

A Santa Rosa man is suspected of illegally manufacturing and possessing a stash of pistols and rifles that were seized by police on Tuesday.

Bon Kim, 44, was arrested at a home in the 500 block of El Capitan Way, according to Santa Rosa police.

He is suspected of being a felon and possessing a firearm and ammunition, manufacturing and possessing an assault weapon, possessing a short-barreled rifle, importing a handgun into California, possessing an extendable baton, and possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

According to police, the investigation began in late April when authorities “intercepted” a weapon part that Kim allegedly imported from China.

After executing a search warrant, investigators, including agents from the Department of Homeland Security and a U.S. Postal Service inspector, searched Kim’s apartment on Tuesday, authorities said.

They found “extensive evidence of the trafficking and manufacture of firearms,” police said.

According to police, items found in the home included several 3D printers, filament spools, drills, manufacturing tools and “numerous privately manufactured firearms.”

Kim is suspected of possessing 19 firearms, including two described as short-barreled assault weapons, as well as high-capacity magazines and ammunition.

He was taken to the Sonoma County Jail.
