Tornado Warning Lubbock, South Plains

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado warning for Lubbock and the South Plains through 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 28. Watch a live stream of the radar in the player above.

Thunderstorms are expected to develop shortly, with rapid development expected. Initial development is underway as of 1:40 p.m. in the west-northwest, north of Morton to near Sudan. And further development to the south, near Lamesa to Big Spring.

Not every storm will be this severe, but storms this afternoon may produce hailstones over 2 inches in diameter and gusts over 75 mph. In addition, a few tornadoes are possible in the warning zone.
