Beachgoers disperse after teen stabbed on Ocean City boardwalk – NBC10 Philadelphia

Crowds ran screaming from the boardwalk in Ocean City, New Jersey, after a teenager was stabbed there on Saturday night.

Video obtained by NBC10 shows crowds of beachgoers fleeing down the ramp from the boardwalk along 12th Street shortly after 9:10 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said the commotion was sparked by a stabbing that occurred on the boardwalk between 9th and 10th streets.

According to police, officers were alerted to reports of a fight along the promenade and were searching for the boy who had been stabbed by an unknown assailant.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and officials said Sunday the teenager’s injuries were not life-threatening.

“We have a highly trained team of officers on the boardwalk and throughout the city, and they will enforce all laws with the utmost vigour,” Ocean City Mayor Jay A. Gillian said in a statement. “Ocean City will always welcome all guests, but I want to send a clear message to parents and youth: ‘If you’re not going to behave, don’t come.'”

Police officials said the investigation into this incident is ongoing and they ask anyone with information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Ocean City Police Department Detective Bureau at (609) 525-9129.
