2 people arrested after attack at gas station in southern Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – Two men are suspected of beating and seriously injuring a person at a supermarket in south Colorado Springs.

Police were called to Maverik on the corner of South Nevada and Las Vegas Street around 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning because the store had been robbed.

“It was determined that the victim was assaulted by two male suspects and suffered serious bodily injuries as a result of the attack,” said a CSPD lieutenant.

The suspects fled before the police arrived at the scene.

After an hour-long search, the two men were found several blocks south of the Maverik in the area of ​​South Nevada and Navajo Street, police said.

“Both suspects were identified as the attackers and taken into custody for aggravated assault,” the lieutenant said.

The suspects were identified as Deonte Bridges and Kristopher Jackson-Smith. Both remain in the El Paso County Jail as of Sunday morning.
