Teenager sexually harassed after meeting man; pretended to be teenager to make friends

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Wednesday that a Hudson County man was charged with producing child pornography after police said he used a messaging app to chat with a teenager and send him sexually explicit videos.

Julio Albery Nunez, 27, of West New York, was charged with two counts: one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of possession of child pornography.

He was arrested on Monday and remains held following a detention hearing in federal court in Newark on Tuesday.

Authorities said they began investigating Nunez’s possible role in child pornography on the dark web and other websites in December 2022. Police said he most recently used a messaging app to pose as a young girl and talk to a male minor between the ages of 15 and 16.

The federal complaint alleges that Nunez sent the male teenager sexually explicit videos of women engaging in sexual acts via online chats and requested and received sexually explicit videos of the alleged victim in return.

The complaint also states that Nunez paid for the videos using a mobile payment tool.

The federal lawsuit against Nunez says police searched his home on May 20 and took two cell phones, a laptop and an external hard drive.

The complaint states that Nunez told investigators during an interview on the day of the search that he had posted child pornography on various websites and the dark web under a false name.

A request for comment from Nunez’s public defender in court on Wednesday was not immediately responded to.
