Josh Allen believes Keon Coleman is the ideal player to fill the void left in the Buffalo Bills after wide receiver Stefon Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans.

Diggs had established himself as one of the best pass catchers in the NFL during his four years with the Bills, surpassing the 1,000-yard mark in each season. However, his time in Western New York became increasingly difficult off the field and after a disappointing playoff run last season, the Bills decided to send the 30-year-old to Houston.

The move left the Bills without an obvious deep threat receiver on their roster, a shortage they filled in the second round of the draft by selecting Florida State prospect Coleman with the 33rd overall pick to Detroit the month last.

Quarterback Allen has been impressed with Coleman’s performance in organized team activities (OTAs), suggesting the six-foot-three, 213-pound playmaker is a good fit for the Bills’ passing attack.

“I think his style of play (is) what we needed in our offense,” Allen told NFL Network. “I spoke with our offensive coordinator (Joe Brady), our quarterbacks coach (Ronald Curry), (general manager) Brandon Beane and obviously coach (Sean) McDermott, a guy who is a big guy and who can win a game. -shoulder fades and I’m not afraid to be a physical wide receiver.

“I think you pair him with some of the guys we have in our room right now. I think Mack Hollins has been a really good addition so far to this room with his mentality, his mindset is contagious for the others. Curtis Samuel, he’s been showing up every day ready to work. If you start putting those guys with Dawson (Knox) and Coleman in that mix now, we’ll have a pretty solid group working together. .
