Buffalo calls on stores selling unlicensed cannabis to stop doing so immediately

BUFFALO, N.Y. — This week, The Leaf on Bailey was the target of a small protest by residents of Buffalo’s University District.

City of Buffalo Commissioner of Licensing and Inspection Services Catherine Amdur told 2 On Your Side “there is no license to operate this establishment. We are out there monitoring the situation. We have just posted a halt to all operations again, we have detailed written violations.

The business remains open.

According to the commissioner, the store does not need a license to sell clothing, but tobacco, hookah and vaping would require a license, and she said “they have no license at all.”

Amdur calls it a difficult time.

“We have this issue coming up, and our licensing inspection department, the Buffalo Police Department, we’ve been working with other partners with the New York State Office of Cannabis Management and trying to get through this difficult period of this regulatory change,” Amdur said.

City inspectors also served notices to cease business at two other city-owned stores on East Delavan Avenue in Buffalo.
