SHERIFF: Ettrick area murder investigation led her to ‘person of interest’ | Crime and Courts

ETTRICK, Wis. (WXOW) – The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation into the homicide that left a person dead near Ettrick on May 15 has led them to a person of interest in the case.

The sheriff’s office released new information about the case Friday afternoon.

It said: “Early in the investigation, a person of interest was identified. This person was arrested and remains in custody on other charges. Investigators are in the process of completing reports and the case will be turned over to the Trempealeau County District Attorney’s Office in the near future.”

No further details were released by the sheriff’s office.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 15 around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Highway TT, Truax Lane and Highway 53 south of Ettrick.

Since that date, the Sheriff’s Office had asked for the public’s assistance in obtaining surveillance or dashboard camera video from the area between 7 and 9 p.m. that day from anyone traveling on Highway 53 between Galesville and Blair.

He also said that eight investigators from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, as well as members of the Wisconsin State Patrol, are involved in the case. The press release said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is also involved in the investigation.
