Police in suburban Norridge asked people to avoid the area of ​​Canfield and Winnemac avenues after an “incident” with an officer Saturday evening, authorities said.

In a Facebook post around 8:15 p.m., Norridge police said one of their officers was involved in an unspecified incident near the intersection.

The officer is doing well and the perpetrator is in custody, police said.

Police urged people to avoid the area but said there was no danger to the neighborhood.

Investigations were underway late Saturday.
