Athens man dies after accident at UGA construction site

A worker at a University of Georgia construction site died after being struck by a forklift on Friday, according to reports.

According to Coroner Sonny Wilson, the victim was identified as 36-year-old Trevor Wilkie of Highland Park Drive.

The incident occurred before 10 a.m., officials say, when Wilkie, an employee of IMI Construction in Watkinsville, was working on a campus steam line project when he was accidentally struck by the forklift.

The construction site is reportedly located between the Miller Learning Center and the Tate Student Center.

Wilkie was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
