A woman with a toddler in her car was shot and killed in northwest Atlanta, police said

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A woman in her early 20s was shot and killed Saturday morning in northwest Atlanta, according to police.

Around 2 a.m., police were called to the 1400 block of Hollywood Road, where they found the woman in a car with a gunshot wound. She died at the scene of the accident.

Two people were in the car with the woman – the driver who called 911 and the woman’s 2-year-old child, police said.

During the investigation, police learned that the shooting happened just around the corner on Center Street near an apartment complex. According to Homicide Squad Commander Lt. Andrew Smith, can be seen on surveillance video as three men opened fire on the car.

Smith said the shooting appeared to be targeted. Police ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 (TIPS).
