After counterfeit money investigations, family members are accused of several crimes

Four people are facing numerous criminal charges after businesses began reporting the use of counterfeit money by their customers.

According to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, several businesses reported that counterfeit currency was used to pay for groceries or gas.

Investigators traced the counterfeit money to four people, all of whom lived in a home on Morton Drive in Burlington.

On Tuesday, the home was searched and investigators seized counterfeit money, illegal narcotics and several firearms, some of which were reported stolen.

Four people were arrested on multiple felony charges. WXII reports that the defendants were family members and a possible girlfriend.

Kevin Craig Davis, 47, was charged with:

  • Felony: Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Felony in Possession of a Stolen Firearm (x2)
  • Criminal possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Felony: Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance (x3)
  • Felony possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substances
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor child abuse

Shannon Deane Davis, 44, was charged with:

  • Felony: Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Felony in Possession of a Stolen Firearm (x2)
  • Criminal possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Felony: Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance (x3)
  • Felony possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substances
  • Crime of obtaining property by false pretenses (x2)
  • Crime Pronouncing a Forged Instrument (x2)
  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor child abuse
  • Offense that contributes to a juvenile’s delinquency
  • Misdemeanor against a public official

Dustin Craig Davis, 27, was charged with:

  • Felony: Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance
  • Crime of obtaining property under false pretenses
  • Crime pronouncing a forged instrument

Rachel Marie Hall, 28, was charged with:

  • Crime of obtaining property under false pretenses
  • Crime pronouncing a forged instrument

According to WXII, the sheriff’s office said it was unable to comment on the allegations regarding child molestation charges or a misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
