9-1-1 crew member dies in car accident after 14-hour shift

9-1-1 mourns a tragic loss.

Rico Priemwho worked as ABC series executive, died May 11 in a car accident after a 14-hour night shift, his union IATSE Local 80 confirmed.

The California Highway Patrol told TVLine that on the way home, Priem went off the road for unknown reasons, drove up an embankment and flipped onto his roof. He was reported dead at the scene and the cause of the accident, which was reported around 4:20 a.m., remains under investigation.

E! News has reached out to local police and 20th Television, which produces 9-1-1for a comment but haven’t received a reply yet.

President of IATSE Local 80 Matthew Loeb shared in a statement: “Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We work to support our members’ families, their fellow members and colleagues. Safety in all aspects of our members’ work is our top priority and we will assist in any way we can with any investigation.”
