1 dead in crash on Allegheny River Boulevard

At least one person was killed in a two-car crash on Allegheny River Boulevard Tuesday morning.

Allegheny County 911 confirmed an incident in the 200 block near Giant Eagle around 8:15 a.m.

Emergency responders from Penn Hills, where the crash occurred, and Verona were on scene, according to Verona Manager Stefanie Woolford. She said at least one inmate died.

Neither Penn Hills police nor Verona police could immediately be reached for comment.

Allegheny River Boulevard remained closed to traffic between Wildwood Avenue and Sandy Creek Road as of 10:30 a.m., Woolford said.

Woolford urged motorists to avoid the area until the scene of the accident is cleared.
